A tiny island among the ocean waters is a dream come true for those who like to hide from the hustle and bustle of the world in peace and incense. Who hasn’t dreamed of one day finding themselves in the shoes of the heroes of “The Mysterious Island” or even “Robinson Crusoe”? Meanwhile, such islands actually exist: many of them are either inhabited or become the object of close attention of the tourist community precisely for their privacy.
Some residents manage to maintain their former way of life, while for others it is lost forever. And yes, by the way, not all islands are located in the middle of the ocean, now make sure!
Thousand Islands Archipelago
This vast archipelago between the United States and Canada among the waters of the deep St. Lawrence River is in itself a majestic and amazing creation of nature. But our selection included only one island, whose name translated into Russian sounds like “just enough space.” Maybe it is so, the area of this land fragment is 311 “squares”.
The island has been owned by the Sizeland family since the mid-1950s, when the clan patriarch purchased it and built a holiday home there. Over time, the light panel house was replaced by a stone one, which was more solid and capable of withstanding spring ice drift.
